Anne Frank was an amazing young girl who lived under one of the most oppressive conditions and still she had such insight to find solace in her writing. If she was able to be so strong, then we have no excuse to be silent & do nothing. If we do nothing then we become a part of the problem!
So very true! Last spring I was lucky to get to Amsterdam and the first thing I did was go to the Anne Frank house. Just seeing that bookcase was enough to fill me with tears. How very bright and articulate she was and the beautiful writings she left of inspiration.
I felt chills down my spine when I read “Just seeing that bookcase…” because I watched the Anne Frank movie repeatedly as a child & what stayed w/me the most was her insightful writing & hiding behind the bookcase as their only “protection” against the Nazi’s.
I grew up w/countless friends whose parent(s) were Holocaust survivors & later I became close friends w/many adult survivors one of whom hid as Anne Frank did. Pola Arbiser wrote a book called “Give Me the Children” about how their nanny came to their home & told their mother the Nazi’s were coming soon & then said “Give me the children” where she hid the two young sisters & their mother in her home.
Beginnings and endings. The flow of life. The yin and yang.
Today we rise. I’ll be on Long Island Mineola - 2300 registered meaning many more who did not will show up on old country road! I was going to go to NYC to protest but decided to stay where I live - on an island that voted for this monster. We push back today!
Rosie, you are a survivor. You will make it through being without a nanny, being in Ireland, and enduring the current American Administration. You’ve got this.
I am sure the people will get wise. I am 75 and just moved to Spain, for how long, I don’t know, but I lived here five years right after retirement. I have marched, protested, written letters and postcards and made phone calls. I need peace and enjoyment this last stage of my life. I cannot tell you how much I truly enjoy your posts and wish you and Clay happiness and peace. Thank you!!!🥰
Protesting today in Burlington Vermont!! Loved your story today. Makes me so Happy that Clay is adjusting so well!! Saw some snippets of the show!! You looked relaxed and happy, always funny!! 🩷🩷🩷
I’m so proud of you for speaking up for us. As a Latina, first generation college graduate, Mexican American born in the USA who happened to be raised in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico and learned English as a freshman in high school, I’m proof that we need to protect the American dream. God bless you! 💙💙💙
The irony of a woman named Heather returning to Los Angeles, when Ireland is the country that illustrates her first name! Haha. You were lucky to have that ease into the new place - she saw you both in, was there for normalcy and routine, and just like Mary Poppins, can now leave you as you both can now stand on your own feet and continue forward. All good.
Sign in hand! Shuffle, shuffle, breathe, breathe
1,000 people showed up in Middletown, CT to protest. We will see how the coverage is across the state on the news tonight. 🙏
“When I write I can shake off all my cares.” Anne Frank
Rosie keep writing and doing what you love.
